It’s a grand life at Starkey Ranch!
When it comes to generations of family fun and togetherness, neighborhood joys and connecting with nature, Starkey Ranch is quite the community to call home!
Just ask Jessica and Raul Serrano and their four children, Adriana 11, Aria 7, Atlas 4 and Asa who is 10 months old. They love living in Whitfield Park. But don’t stop there. Delighted grandparents, Carolyn and Jim Rivers moved into lovely, gated Esplanade a year ago.
As Carolyn says, “Living so close to our kids and grandkids is amazing. Wacky Wednesday dinners and Sunday suppers are standard at ‘Mimi and Papa’s.’ The kids come here to swim, we go there to the splash pad and sleep overs are so easy!” Jim adds, “We love living at Esplanade, having our own clubhouse and everything. And it’s a ten-minute bike ride to see the kids instead of a 40-minute drive.”
Daughter Jessica tells how everyone got here. “We were one of the first fifty Starkey Ranch families. Raul and I saw ‘Where life takes root’ and knew this was it. We wanted our kids to be able to be outdoors all day and live in close-knit neighborhoods. We saw a model home and fell in love!”
“We weren’t yet pregnant with our fourth, when we ‘dragged’ my parents, then living in Palm Harbor, to Esplanade to look at a model. They loved it! Suddenly the idea of being close to us and the grandkids in a larger new home that would fit the whole family was really appealing to them. And a better investment than trying to renovate their smaller condo.”
“There’s so much to do here as a family! We bike ride, visit the community garden, go to the Starkey Market, watch soccer games at District Park and the community events are the coolest! The bonfire and marshmallow roast at Christmas, the Halloween party. So much fun!!”
Even better, natural Florida is everywhere and there are miles of paved trails. The kids adore all the wildlife. Carolyn applauds the community planners. “The homes are set amongst the nature. We feel like guests in nature, not the other way around. They couldn’t have done a better job!”
Both Starkey Ranch neighborhoods have been dreams come true. Carolyn and Jim work in the law and banking fields respectively and have bonded with their Esplanade neighbors. “We’re the Cul-de-Sacers, kind of a mix of younger, working and retired.” Raul and Jessica own Ignite Chiropractic and Wellness and Ignite Academy. “This is our retreat, surrounded by friends. We never leave once the weekend comes.”
When Jessica’s sisters and their two-kids-each families come to visit, Carolyn and Jim love that “our open floor plan is perfect for all to gather. I cook or ‘Papa’ grills and the kids dance, dance, dance to the Amazon Echo on the back porch." Their kitchen sign says, ‘Thankful and Blessed.’ With their multi-generation family all at Starkey Ranch, “It couldn’t be more true.”
